My hope is that the following information will help to prepare you for your family session. I want to make this experience enjoyable and fun for everyone!

I’ve included directions to my home studio below for sessions taking place indoors or outside on studio property. My phone number is also included if you have any troubles locating me. It is very important for you to arrive on time. I know this can sometimes be difficult if you have younger children, but due to other appointments with clients or my family obligations, I appreciate you respecting your session time. I do my best to allow ample time for all my clients based on my experience and never want you to feel stressed or rushed, but I also need to make sure I have session limits so that I may take care of all the other items that go along with running my business.

{THE STUDIO & POLICIES}

  • Although the studio area is carpeted, heated/air conditioned, there is no bathroom available as the studio is located in an addition behind my home. I do ask that if you have children, they have the opportunity to go to the bathroom before you arrive at the studio. It helps to keep the session moving smoothly and eliminates me from stepping away from time that I can be taking pictures or preparing the next set-up. In addition, I do have three dogs and it can become distracting for children as they’d rather stay with the dogs than have their pictures done.
  • Seating is limited in the studio. Please bring only those being photographed and one other guest if needed.

There is no smoking in or outside of the studio.

{PREPARING FOR YOUR SESSION}

  • It is helpful to plan outfits at least a week before your session.
  • Chose a palette of 2-4 colors and mix it up with both pants and/or dresses. You want a cohesive feel without it matching too much.
  • Try to choose soft, neutral tones. Soft pinks with muted blues, gray, cream and browns. Other options that look great especially in the fall are cranberry, navy, mustard and cream or brown tones.
  • Generally sleeveless shirts or shorts on adults are not flattering. Layered clothing looks great. Knee length or long flowing dresses are a wonderful alternative for women if you do not want to wear pants.
  • Lay your clothing out next to each other with your accessories to make sure everything looks great together.
  • Make sure children have been fed and are well rested.
  • As crazy as it may sound, please have kids brush their teeth prior to the session. Often times people may stop to eat first and it becomes difficult and time consuming editing food out of their smiles.
  • Please refrain from chewing gum. As much as people try to hide it, it still can show in pictures.
  • Women try not to wear elastics around your wrist. I try to remind you to take them off prior to pictures, but often times they leave marks. Men please make sure you take keys, money and cell phone out of your pockets.
  • Having your hair cut? I recommend doing this a week before your session for a more natural look.
  • Nails should be neat for the whole family and any nail polish should be free from chips and a neutral color that will coordinate with your outfits.
  • Shoes may show so make sure they are clean, neat and you are wearing matching socks. If you’re thinking of bare feet, make sure toes are neat as well.
  • PLEASE make sure all clothing is cleaned, pressed and free of lint, missing buttons or tiny tears! I recommend bringing your clothing on a hanger instead of folding it in a bag.
  • AVOID baggy clothing, logos, neon colors, small pinstripes  and busy patterns.

{WHAT TO BRING}

  • Clothing neatly pressed and on hangers.
  • Bring accessories including scarfs, belts and jewelry. For children, headbands, bowties and hats if you’d like.
  • Brush, hairspray, makeup or anything else you may need for any touch ups.
  • Don’t forget your smiles!
