{CLOTHING}

A little planning is all it takes to make sure you look fabulous in photos that create lasting memories of your high school years. Fashion trends come and go like Bieber’s bangs, but here are some looks sure to rock your session.

  • Sick band t-shirts, funky jackets, jerseys, fun sweatshirts and even hats make for great personality shots– the ones where you’re just hanging out, being you.
  • If you feel comfortable you’ll look it and get some great shots in the process. Sports jerseys and equipment as well as other hobby related props (bikes, guitars, your skateboard) also add that personal flair to make you stand out, so don’t be afraid to bring them along!
  • It’s always better to pack too many options than too few.
  • Bring your outfits with you ironed and on a hanger. Freshly pressed outfits will look so much nicer in your photos than those thrown in a bag. Although most people think photoshop can fix anything, it can be very time consuming and I use it to enhance images, not to fix them.
  • Make sure clothing is free of tears, stains and missing buttons.
  • Avoid small pinstripes, neon colors and logos.
  • Think about your setting. If you are in an area with lots of trees and grasses, don’t wear green. Choose a color that will compliment such as navy, cranberry, orange, cream or brown.

{HAIR}

Get your hair cut at least a couple of weeks before the shoot, not a couple of days prior. This will give it time to get just right length-wise. You most definitely want to be clean shaven as well and, ideally, have your complexion at its best.

As long as we’re talking hair (you might want to be sitting down for this), you might consider–just maybe–a little eyebrow waxing. Embracing this idea that might seem crazy at first is a small price to pay for ditching the unibrow. Similarly, neatly clipped nails rather than scraggly nails are always preferable.

{DON’T FORGET}

  • Neatly pressed clothes on hangers.
  • The more variety in clothing, the more options we can choose from!
  • Brush or comb.
